LEED v5 is marking a pivotal shift by prioritizing inclusive design through two new credits: EQc3 Accessibility and Inclusion, and SSc2 Accessible Outdoor Space. These credits move beyond simple code compliance, encouraging project teams to support the diverse physical, cognitive, and sensory needs of all users. At HUSARCH, we believe a building isn't truly sustainable unless it is universally accessible, and we are eager to leverage our deep experience with accessibility standards—including our work with the Chicago Housing Authority—to help project teams go from acceptable to accommodating
Starting June 30th, 2027, the USGBC will require all LEED projects to register under LEED v5, introducing more rigorous planning requirements and a sharper focus on materials, equity, and decarbonization.
